Nicholas J. Nicosia, 97, Of Garfield

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Nicholas J. Nicosia, of Garfield, died Nov. 10. He was 97.

Before retiring, he was a dock worker for Redstar Express in North Bergen, a member of the Teamsters Union Local 560 and past president of the Teamsters Retirement Club. He was a World War II Army veteran and former commander of the Lodi V.F.W. Post 5082. 

Predeceased by his parents, Francesco and Benedetta; brothers, Thomas, Fred and James Nicosia; sisters, Katherine Kaptina and Betty DePalma; and wife, Serafina Rose (nee Nasuta). 

He is survived by his children, Frank and wife Marjorie, Kenneth “Nick” and wife Joyce, Eileen and husband John Andolino and David and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Frank Marchese and John Emanuel, Nicholas, Kenneth, Victoria, Alexandra Nicosia and Mary Nero; great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Nicholas, Adrianna, Abigal, Emilio and Kailey; and brother, Frances Nucifora. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 N. Main St., Lodi, then to St. Joseph R.C. Church, 40 Spring St., Lodi for an 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Private cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
